Welcome to the first Knight Fencing commercial fencing roundup of 2024.
What you’ll find here is info on what commercial fencing we’ve been doing, who we’ve been doing it for and where we’ve been doing it.
Local fencing, fencing for dogs and retractable bollards
We work on a lot of types of commercial fencing in West Sussex and Hampshire and the three jobs you can read about here are a perfect illustration of this range.
There’s one in Chichester, one in Selsey and one in Southampton. And they’re all different jobs – a care home, a rural day centre and industrial units – using different materials to achieve different objectives.
Commercial fencing for a care home in Selsey
It is essential that a care home is safe and welcoming and this requirement influences every aspect of the build and design, including the fencing. For the new Caraway House Care Home in Selsey, to help achieve this goal, we kept the fencing local.
What does local fencing mean?
It is fencing that is in keeping with the residential area surrounding the home, creating an important sense of familiarity and safety. Contracted by Acheson construction company, we installed 208m of 1.8m closeboard fencing, along with bow top railings and gates in this style.
And that’s not all we did. We installed bird and bat boxes to lessen the impact of the build on local wildlife. And we manufactured and installed bespoke planters – we made these at a taller height so that residents can use them without bending over.
Commercial fencing in Chichester for a rural day centre
For this commercial fencing job, we were asked to come up with a fencing system that would keep one type of animal in (as well as one of their favourite toys) and another out.
The Apuldram Centre plays an important part in the local community and to help keep the money coming in, they decided to create a dog paddock for residents and visitors. Key to the design was fencing that stops deer from getting in and dogs and their toys from getting out.
And this is exactly what the fencing and gates that we installed help do. We put up 330m of 1.9m deer fencing, with access gates in the same style. And to stop well-chewed tennis balls from escaping, we put 1m of rabbit netting on the bottom half of the fencing.
Commercial fencing for industrial units in Southampton
There is a growing demand for commercial and industrial space in the local area, with more and more units being built. Fencing and access systems are an integral part of the build and this was our focus for this job in Southampton.
Working with Vale Southern Construction on a build involving six industrial units spread across two blocks (16,941 sq. ft in total), we installed 41m of 2.4m palisade fencing, four 2.4 m Protek gates, 28m of Armco barriers, 30m of 1,100mm key clamp fencing and 12 retractable bollards.
The commercial perimeter fencing and access systems that we put in place are key to ensuring site security. They also provide secure, straightforward access for unit owners and the people and vehicles related to their businesses.
