Commercial Fencing Case Study

Windmill Fencing: Installing vertical bar railings and gates at Halnaker Windmill in Chichester, West Sussex

Knight Fencing was selected to supply and install vertical bar railings and gates at Halnaker Windmill based on our experience, expertise, the standard of our work and the value for money we provide.

We have the insurance coverage and health and safety accreditation required to supply and install fencing and gates at heritage sites like this. Halnaker Windmill is a grade 2-listed building and the site is owned and managed by West Sussex County Council, with which we have worked extensively in the past.

The windmill fencing project required us to install the vertical bar railings and gates while working along side a team of archaeologists that was working at the site. In order to preserve the natural site, it was critical that we did not disturb or damage any artefacts when installing the railings and gates. We also had to protect the ground at all times from vehicle-related damage which became more challenging in difficult weather conditions.

Despite the challenge of this windmill fencing project, we were able to successfully carry out the work at Halnaker Windmill on time and to budget, securely installing vertical bar railings and gates without disturbing or damaging any artefacts and without causing any vehicle-related ground damage.

The client was very happy with the work and the vertical bar railings and gates continue to do their job to a high standard at this important Sussex landmark.
