Fencing Works at 16 Schools over the Summer Holidays
As the summer holidays draw to a close, so does one of the busiest periods of our year. The six-week school holiday gives us a crucial window to carry out fencing works on school sites while pupils are away, and the summer of 2026 has been a particularly busy one for the Knight Fencing team.
16 schools in six weeks
Over the holiday period we worked across 16 schools, all while continuing to deliver several lengthy commercial projects and keeping our domestic installations moving. The school works alone varied hugely in size and scope, including:
- High-level rebound weldmesh fencing and gates around sports pitches and ball courts
- Timber picket fencing within playground areas
- Closeboard fencing
- Security gates
- Full school perimeter fencing upgrades
Every one was tailored to the individual requirements of the site. Some were short projects, while others saw our teams on site for the whole six weeks, carrying out extensive works to improve security, safeguarding and safety ahead of pupils returning in September.
Planning behind the scenes
Behind those 16 schools was a huge amount of planning, coordination and problem-solving to make sure materials, manufacturing and installation teams were all in the right place at the right time. Because we manufacture our own timber fencing and gates, we can control lead times rather than waiting on suppliers, which matters when every project has the same immovable deadline.
A special mention goes to Nick Smith, our General and Contracts Manager, who managed and coordinated the majority of our school projects throughout the summer, working closely with our teams and clients to keep everything on programme. Thank you too to our installation teams and suppliers who turned those plans into completed projects.
Ready for the new school year
With the holidays nearly over, it is good to look back at how much was achieved in such a short window, and to see another 16 schools safe, secure and ready for the new school year.
